Thursday May 27, 2010 - Entry 7:
The greatest benefit to my students after taking this course, is that I have more information to share with them. I have learned several different technology tools to help them learn and to present material in several different ways. Using blogs, wikis and Smart activities will keep the children interested and will add to the standard material given. The Podcasts are an added bonus for even more information and learning materials. I think it is important to keep the students interested and challenged and, after taking this class, I feel there is something for everyone as well as an endless supply!
Thursday May 27, 2010 - Entry 6:
Yes, I do think there should be more technology in schools. The Smart Board is a wonderful tool for interactive learning. I think it makes learning more interesting and fun for both teachers and students. The visual effects help students make the connection clearer and quicker than reading or looking at a book. Real time examples are invaluable to students who may be struggling. Also, online testing is another technological source I wish we would use more of. It is much cleaner and also gives students another opportunity to use technology.
Wednesday May 26, 2010 - Entry 5:
Some things I can improve on in technology is navigation. I am familiar with websites, Smart Board tools etc. but I find myself having to be reminded or look back on my notes in order to go from one thing to another. I would also like to learn more about formulas in excel. In Word, I need help with mail merge.
Tuesday May 25, 2010 - Entry 4:
Learning Google Earth will be a great tool in teaching children Geography and Social Studies.
Also, learning how to create tests and quizes online will benefit the students and teachers.
Monday May 24, 2010 - Entry 2:
I like being able to share and obtain information with co-workers in a very easy format. I like being able to use the pages to sort and organize this information, and to keep it updated in an organized manner.
I was locked out during my session, before my worked was saved - and had to start over. I liked that the least.
Monday May 24, 2010 - Entry 1:
I hope to gain more knowledge in Smart Boardactivities that would benefit 1st graders. I hope to become more comfortable with navigating the Smart Board while giving a lesson.
I would also like to learn more about interactive web pages, and to be able to find information on the net more easily.
My favorite tech source is Excel. I would love to learn how to import Word info into Excel (mail merge?)I've done this in class before, but never seem to be able to make it work.
Tuesday May 25, 2010 - Entry 3:
I have to complete making the exercises for the children to do in learning patterns. I have the introduction finished and would like to create several different exercises using various tiles, colors, pictures to create patterns.
